Body Psychotherapy New York

About Me

How to allow, express, and integrate the full range of human feelings and spiritual yearnings, while living in our fast-paced, achievement-oriented culture? This is a question that has held my attention for as long as I can remember. What blocks our ability to express ourselves? What factors in our past or present lives get in the way of following our passions? Why is it so hard for many of us to claim our space? Our voice?

Susie Melnick

I began my professional life as a classical musician, practicing and exploring both the language of feelings, and our human connection with the divine, through music. As a music teacher, I often explored with my students the process of creative expression and how it can be stymied. Gradually, I felt myself drawn to working more directly with these themes, and started on my journey of becoming a therapist.

Both before and after receiving my Masterís in Social Work from Fordham University, life has, sometimes gently, sometimes not-so-gently, nudged me onto other deeply transformative paths. These have included doing my own deep emotional healing in many years of Jungian analysis, working with my various physical injuries and emotional holding through the Rubenfeld Synergy Method, chakra psychology and Integrative Bodywork, years of studying with Geneen Roth, best selling author of Women, Food, and God, as well as about three decades of a regular meditation practice.

Just like my clients, I am on my own healing journey, and am deeply inspired by the archetype of the wounded healer. I consider it the highest privilege to share with other people some of the fruits of my journey.
